Outdoor Bill of Rights

Colorado Lt. Governor Barbara O’Brien announced in the DENVER POST the creation of a Colorado Kid’s Outdoor Bill of Rights on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. What in the world can that be you may ask? It had nothing to do with the kind of games this Blog is devoted to but is relevant due to the strengthening of bodies (exercise) as well as learning about environment. The List guarantees, every Coloradan, before they grow up, a right to:

1. Camp out under the stars.
2. Follow a trail.
3. Play in a creek or river.
4. Experience the wonders of Colorado’s four seasons.
5. Visit a working farm or ranch.
6. Enjoy the view from the top of a mountain.
7. Identify Colorado’s official state wildlife and plants in their natural habitat.
8. Explore one of Colorado’s dozens of local, state and national parks.
9. Play in the dirt and learn about the world from the ground up.
10. Plant a seed for other Colorado kids to enjoy in the future.

True, these rights are specific to Colorado geography but, as parents, we can adapt these concepts wherever we live

This is my first

You can find out all about me by reading my profile.  I plan to use this part of my newly formed blog to give you ideas about the value of playing outdoor games with family and friends.  There is a current national campaign to reduce the obesity that has come about through a lack of exercise and too much time in front of the TV or computer monitor.  I will be trying to help you correct this problem.  Another fact that will make the use of outdoor games is the economy.  With the loss of jobs and reduction of family income the purchase and use of outdoor games will certainly help your family budget to provide family fun without the expense of travel.
